Egg Donation Treatment in India

ο„‘

Fertility Treatment Β· Bloom IVF

Dr. Hrishikesh Pai offers an ethical, fully screened egg donation programme in India. Infertile women with ovarian problems, such as primary or premature ovarian failure, may benefit from this procedure. In addition, in cases of repeated failure of IVF treatment, women with normal ovarian function may require oocyte donation.

Following ovarian stimulation, a fertile woman (donor) allows some of her oocytes to be aspirated and used to help another woman who is infertile due to ovarian failure, conceive with IVF.

Donor Safety

Rigorous Donor Screening

Oocyte donors are screened for infectious diseases such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C, venereal disease of syphilis, and AIDS HIV 1 & 2 before donating. To detect occult infection, a full blood count and sedimentation rate is evaluated. Haemoglobinopathies, such as Thalassemia, are ruled out in any situation. The height, build, weight, skin tone, hair color, eye color, and blood type of the donors are all matched.

Infectious Disease Screening

Donors are tested for hepatitis B, hepatitis C, syphilis, and HIV 1 & 2, with a full blood count and sedimentation rate to detect occult infection.

Expanded Carrier Screening

Ours is one of the few units in India that has recently begun to offer expanded carrier screening of egg donors, with Thalassemia ruled out in any situation.

Couple Carrier Screening

If the recipient’s male partner has a genetic disorder, further genetic or medical testing is performed. A particular donor and the recipient’s husband are subjected to extended carrier screening. If there is no match then specific donor eggs are used.
The Procedure

How the Donation Process Works

Oocyte donation necessitates invasive medical treatment for the donor, including ovarian stimulation and anesthetic transvaginal extraction of mature oocytes. The recipient can be parallelly prepared in the same cycle, or embryos can be frozen and used at a later time.

At times, the husband may also have azoospermia (zero sperms). We will use donor eggs and sperm in this situation. This is referred to as embryo donation.

For egg donation, our unit provides both fresh and cryopreserved quarantined eggs. The eggs may be tested for HIV and quarantined. We may also include donor eggs that have been subjected to a more rigorous carrier screening. Our egg donation success rate is 90% after three attempts.
